Buttermilk Scones
3 C all-purpose flour
1/3 C sugar
21/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 C butter
1 C buttermilk
Variations that can be added
3/4 C chopped dates- 1 C drained Blueberries.
-dried cranberries - raisins- 1 C chocolate chips- cinn chips- ect!
In a large bowl, Mix the first 5 ingredients.
Cut in butter till about pea size.
Add any of the variations at this time.
Add buttermilk, mix together lightly, just till combined.
Place mixture onto a floured board and form into a ball.
With your hands press mixture into a circle about 1/2" thick.
Cut into shapes with a 2" cutter.
Brush tops with milk or cream and sprinkle tops with sugar or cinn sugar if desired.
Place 11/2" apart on a lightly greased baking sheet
Bake at 425 degrees for 12 min or until tops are lightly browned.
